Book Direct with the Owner at Geltwood Anchor Memorial in Southend with Mackay Tourism for all your holiday and travel needs.
On the fifth of July 1876, the Geltwood, a three masted hull barque, on its maiden voyage from England was tragically wrecked a mile off shore, 16 kilometres from Rivoli Bay. There were no survivors. One of the Geltwood anchors, as well as interpretive panels, can be viewed in Southend at a lookout on Cape Buffon Drive, opposite the National Park Ranger Headquarters. It is a memorial to those who have perished at sea, including local amateur and professional fishermen who have lost their lives at sea. Another Geltwood anchor can also seen at the Millicent National Trust Living History Museum in the Shipwreck Room....Mackay Tourism welcomes Geltwood Anchor Memorial, the ideal Southend SA Holiday outlet for all the family to enjoy.
