In the 1970's Sister Angela Solling and s group of sisters from the Anglican Community of Saint Clare came to live a life of reflection and prayer at Stroud. With help from many parishioners from Anglican Parishioners they constructed a series of beautiful mud brick buildings, centred around the Chapel of the Blessed virgin Mary. This is the Monastery. The 1997 a building was erected for larger gatherings, and was named the Gunya Chiara, meaning House of Healing of Saint Clare.There is a third building, the Guest House, which may be rented for shirt-term stays, either in connection with the Monastery or for short breaks and holidays.Alongside the Monastery on the southern side of the site, the Anglican Brothers of the Society of St Francis have their Hermitage of St Bernadine as a place of prayer and contemplate living. The Brothers welcome you to use their chapel for prayer and reflection and has also offered to facilitate retreats.
